TAT Resources for Green Tourism

Krabi Tourism

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is the official government agency responsible for promoting tourism in Thailand. As part of its commitment to green tourism in Thailand, TAT has started producing publications that encourage and support this. Green tourism in Thailand focuses on mindful travel choices, such as eco-friendly accommodation, reduced plastic use, and respectful interaction with nature and communities. These efforts help ensure Thailand remains a beautiful, vibrant destination for future generations.

Their newly launched 10 Green Cities, 20 Sustainable Experiences book promotes destinations that protect natural resources, preserve cultural heritage, and support local livelihoods.

Another interesting website by the Department of Tourism is the Thailand Green Tourism Plan 2030. The Department of Tourism is committed to advancing Thai tourism through sustainability — environmental, social, cultural, and economic. To support this commitment, the Department has introduced the Green Scan System. It is a practical tool designed to help tourism businesses with self-assessment and progress toward certification aligned with an international standard. The Green Scan System adopts the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). It integrates best-practice frameworks from the Green Destinations Foundation and Travelife for Tour Operators to establish comprehensive sustainability standards for Thailand across all dimensions.
